Lansing City Council Members Speak Out On Free Rent For Police

Posted: Updated:
(WLNS) - Lansing City Council members, Judi Brown Clarke and Jody Washington, are speaking out on a donation that would allow the Lansing Police Department to stay free in their current North Lansing quarters.
Harry Hepler, the owner of H Inc, is donating office space valued at $400,000 to the Police Department in an effort to keep them from relocating their current offices to the Harry Hill Center in southwest Lansing.
The lease on the current space at the Motor Wheel complex, north of downtown, expires at the end of August.
Mayor Virg Bernero has reportedly called the offer "an eleventh hour" offer that is too late.
