Howell Nature Center Bobcat Gets Dental Exam

Posted: Updated:
(WLNS) - How do you give a wild bobcat a dental exam?
Carefully.
That was the key for Dr. Gary Wood and the staff at Countryside Veterinary Hospital in Howell when it came time to examine "Taz", the Howell Nature Center's resident bobcat.
Taz is 18 years old, was losing weight and was reluctant to eat hard food.
His handlers suspected a dental problem so Dr. Wood was called in to sedate the large cat.
They cleaned Taz's teeth, removed a fractured tooth and gave him a series of x-rays.
They found Taz has a touch of arthritis but otherwise is in great health.
