TMSG: Williamston Theater Gets Personal

Posted: Updated:
(WLNS) - All the world's a stage, and we are merely actors on it.

You've heard that sSakespeare quote before.

For a local theatre director his stage just experienced a very dramatic but inspiring personal production.

Evan Pinsonnault shares it with us in today's "Tell Me Something Good".

Tony Caselli remembers, "The costume changes were so fast, it was so fun."

Filled with energy and enthusiasm, Tony Caselli returned to work this may as artistic director of the Williamston Theatre after truly a winter of discontent.

"I apparently was really lucky to survive," adds Caselli.

He remembers collapsing in January because of breathing problems, going to the hospital... And then waking up to doctors saying it was March, he had been in a coma and that he almost died because of acute respiratory distress syndrome.

Caselli says, "You come out of something like that really realizing what's important."

And for him that's his love of theatre. A passion shared by Williamston Community members who designed a very special costume for everyone to wear in his honor.

"I woke up to this flood of facebook pictures with people wearing a t-shirt with me on it," Caselli recalls.

"What was really kind of amazing was this spirit everyone took on of Tony's," said Emily Sutton-Smith, a founding member of Williamston Theatre, came up with the "Team Tony" t-shirt idea.

Sutton-smith recalls, "Anytime there's serious illness, there are always tons of expenses and bills...and then we sold 593 shirts and made $14,000."

Caselli says, "The change in my world that made was pretty amazing."

Just like Tony's story...where he's proven both on-stage and in life "the script is just ridiculously fun".

That the show must go on.

Tony's next show for the Williamston Theater is called "Old Love."

It opens this weekend and runs through June 15th.
