Lasers & Color Light Up Impression 5 Summer Camps

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - If you're looking for some family fun this long weekend, something that may leave a lasting impression, you want to think about heading to the "Impression 5 Science Center" in downtown Lansing.

Morning reporter Francesca Amiker spent the morning learning about two of their newer exhibits that will be a big topic of conversation as the center prepares for summer programs and camps.

The first exhibit, Spectrum, is a room made up of light and color. The Executive Director, Erik Larson, says the room is designed to teach kids and adults about the capabilities of light. From writing on the walls with colorful lasers to capturing your own shadow in time, the Spectrum exhibit truly allows science center visitors to become hands on scientists for a day.

The second exhibit, My Nature, promotes the importance of being a naturalists.

Kids can 'suit up' in nature vests, explore and create their own food chain displays, and even write about the animals they see in their nature journals.

Science Center lovers don't have to wait until the center is open to have fun and explore either.

The center hosts overnight sleepovers and summer camps for your child to jump right in and learn the art of science.

The hands-on learning environment of Impression 5 opened in 1972 and has served nearly 3 million visitors over the past 40 years!

Since 1982, Impression 5 has been located on Museum Drive in downtown Lansing.

"Impression 5" still refers to the five senses and the way that each sense is engaged during a visit to the Science Center.
