Police Searching For Answers In Homicide Investigation

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON COUNTY, MI (WLNS) - Police are trying to get to the bottom of a homicide in Blackman Township.

Investigators say 49-year-old Russell Trammell was found in his home late Wednesday afternoon.

6 News Savana Ciavatta was on scene and spoke to family members about Trammell.

Many consider Pops Ct. a quiet street in Blackman Township, but yesterday the silence turned into sirens and James Trammell got the worst news possible.

“Minutes after I got home, I received word that my father had been shot and killed,” said James Trammell, son of victim.

“It’s unbearable to imagine to come home to something like this.”

Police say his wife found 49-year-old Russell Trammel dead in their home. Trammel lived with his wife and son in the home for 25 years.

Investigators aren’t saying if they have any leads on the case or if there is a person of interest, but they don't believe it is a suicide.

“Words can’t explain right now,” said James Trammell.

Neighbors are shocked that something like this happened on their street and are saddened at the loss of Russell Trammell.

“It’s just a shame. I just hate to see anything like that, you know. He is still a young man, still had a life ahead of him too. Too bad it comes down to this,” said John McKessy, victim’s neighbor.

Anyone with information on the death of Russell Trammell is asked to call Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety’s Detective Bureau at (517) 990-9700.
