Be A Tourist In Your Own Town At Preuss Pets

(WLNS) - It's that time of the year again.

The time where you get to experience mid-Michigan's most hidden treasures all in one day.

The 20th annual 'Be a Tourist In Your Own Town' is this weekend, and this morning 6 News reporter Francsca Amiker gave viewers an inside look at one of the very unique stops!

Preuss Pets is one of the 70 locations available on the "Be a Tourist In Your Own Town" tour.

The shop has everything ranging from rats to jelly fish-- poison dart frogs to pirahnas!

The owner, Rick Preuss, says the store is more than a pet shop,

It's an experience where families can learn about exotic species from around the world.

"Be a Tourist In Your Own Town" begins Saturday, May 31st.

Passports can be purchased for $1 before the event or the day of the event at the following locations:

Information Station at Michigan Historical Museum

Greater Lansing Visitor Center - Lansing

Greater Lansing Visitor Center - East Lansing

Information station in Old Town on Turner St.

Impression 5 Science Center

Information Station at Potter Park Zoo

CATA transportation center

Passport holders can park on the MSU campus, in Old Town, at the downtown city of Lansing parking ramps or at the Michigan Historical Museum and hop aboard one of four CATA "Be a Tourist" public bus routes. Round trip fares are only 50 cents per person.
