(WLNS) - Union officials in Jackson could save the city from having to lay off police and firefighters.
That's according to our media partners at the Jackson Citizen Patriot.
City council met to approve its budget for the fiscal year.
It contains roughly $300,000 worth of cuts to public safety, including cutting one firefighter and police officer.
But according to the newspaper report, union officials agreed to health care concessions during a morning meeting that will save the city $600,000.
They expect to see the budget revised before it goes into effect in July.
