(WLNS) - Ford is calling back more than 1 million cars and SUVs because of steering problems.
The largest of the recalls involve 915,000 Ford Escapes and Mercury Mariners from 2008 through 2011.
The company says a problem with a sensor in the steering column could cause a loss of power-assisted steering.
Just under 200,000 Ford Explorers are also being recalled.
Dealers will update software or replace the parts for free.
