Board Member And Wife Turn Themselves In

Posted: Updated:
LEONI TWP., MI (WLNS) - A Leoni Township board member and his wife have turned themselves in to authorities to face charges for allegedly delivering, possessing and manufacturing controlled substances.

The Jackson Narcotic Enforcement Team issued a warrant for the arrest of Todd and Kerry Picket, following an incident last year when a medical marijuana dispensary the couple owns was raided.

Last July, JNET officials say they seized more than 50 pounds of marijuana and hydrocodone from Sweet Greens and the SG Health and Wellness Center in Leoni Township.

Officials believe the store was still running as a dispensary, despite a ruling by the Michigan Supreme Court that said dispensaries are not protected under the state’s medical marijuana laws.

The couple is expected to be back in court at the beginning of July.
