Western Michigan Investigators Solve 2006 Slaying

Posted: Updated:
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - Investigators say they have solved the 2006 slaying of a mother from western Michigan.

The Kent County Cold Case Team has identified Anthony Gundy as the man responsible for the strangulation of 28-year-old StarKinya Vance of Grand Rapids. The 47-year-old died in 2007 from respiratory failure.

Authorities say DNA analysis linked Gundy to the crime but he denied knowing her or ever having contact with her. They later used surveillance video to link Vance to Gundy's vehicle.

Prosecutors reviewed the evidence and determined "in all reasonable likelihood" that Gundy murdered Vance.

Vance had two sons.
