Airport Safety Drill Today In Lansing

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - If you live near, or happen to be driving by, the Capital Region International Airport today and notice smoke and a large police presence,

don't worry.

It's only a drill.

The airport is conducting a mock disaster exercise today to test communication and emergency response.

The day-long exercise is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.

Airport safety personnel will work with fire department and law enforcement agencies as if there is an actual disaster.

Again, this is just an exercise required by the Federal Aviation Administration.

It will not interfere with any flights and passengers will have access to the main terminal building throughout.
