Police Find Stolen BMW, Arrest Suspect

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBIA TWP., MI (WLNS) – Police have found both a stolen BMW and the man they say drove it away.

Around 9:45 a.m. Thursday someone called police and said they saw the stolen BMW parked at the Clarklake County Park on Ocean Beach Road. Officers went to the area and found the stolen BMW parked there, but there was no one inside.

Officers went to the suspect’s home, which is only about a quarter mile from the park, but he was not there. They searched the area and spotted the suspect, Scott Waters, but he took off running in between houses and through a corn field. Officers chased him until they caught up with him, then took him into custody.

Waters is being lodged at the Jackson County Jail on a parole absconder warrant as well as other charges of home invasion and auto theft. The arrest is being reviewed at this time, but Waters may face other charges.

The stolen BMW has to be processed for evidence, but afterwards it will be returned to the owner.
