Gas Prices Back Above $4 Per Gallon

Posted: Updated:
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Gas prices in Lansing have once again tipped the $4 per gallon mark, and experts blame bad business for the spike.

“What happened here is stations selling at $3.99 making basically no money, that’s what started the chain reaction this morning,” said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst at GasBuddy.com. “Some stations decided to raise their prices so that they're making money and so they can keep their station open.”

As of Thursday, one station on Lake Lansing Road near Eastwood Towne Center was selling regular, unleaded gas for $4.04, and GasBuddy.com showed a station in Okemos selling gas for $4.09 per gallon.

"I can see right now that I'm going to be having to change a few things and cut back on quite a few things,” said David Shipman, a customer who paid $4.04 a gallon to fill his SUV. “I just don't understand why the prices are so high."
