Parolees, Probationers To Join In Blight Cleanup

Posted: Updated:

DETROIT (AP) - Parolees and probationers are expected to join law enforcement officials and a Detroit neighborhood group to help eliminate blight in the city.

The Pinehurst Block Club cleanup effort is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday on the city's northwest side.

Pinehurst Block Club members, Michigan Department of Corrections staff and police officers are among those involved. They'll work with parolees and probationers who live in the area or contributed to crime in the neighborhood on removing trash, planting flowers and cutting grass.

They'll also board up abandoned buildings.
