Sheriff: Salesmen Shot At By Isabella County Man

Posted: Updated:
(WLNS) - Being a door-to-door salesman is a tough job in the best conditions.

Two vacuum cleaner salesmen in Isabella County were really put to the test yesterday when they were allegedly shot at during a sales call.

The two told sheriff department investigators that they knocked on a door in the 6000 block of South Vandecar Road in Fremont Township.

They say they were met at the door by a man who didn't say anything and just held up one index finger in a "one minute" gesture.  The man proceeded to walk into a nearby garage.

As the salesmen got in their van and left the property they said the man came out of the garage with a long gun.

Two shots were heard as they saw the man point the gun at them. No one was hit or injured.

A 61 year old man is under arrest today for three counts of felony assault. He is held in the Isabella County Jail without bond.

A shotgun was recovered at the scene.

According to the sheriff alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the incident.
