Fish Rodeo Debuts Along Grand River In Lansing

(WLNS) - One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish!

We're not just quoting Dr. Seuss, we're talking about the big event this weekend that's bound to reel in the entire family!

Things are about to get fishy here in mid-Michigan.

It's the weekend of the big 2014 Grand American Fish Rodeo.

The event that's celebrating Michigan's waterways and allowing you and the entire family to get a little weird.

The first Grand American Fish rRdeo will be a one-of-a-kind festival with evening boat parades, live music, casting competitions, relay races, a rubber fish derby, fish-themed outdoor movies, a boat building competition, and fish stories.

The fish themed three-day event will also feature fishing and casting contests with plenty of prizes, a cook-off, musical performances, outdoor movies with aquatic themes , including Jaws and the Little Mermaid, and other events.

The event is a play on the rodeos held out west and an attempt to capitalize on the splendor of the Grand River.

The event kicks off Thursday at Adado Riverfront Park at 300 N. Grand Ave.

Thursday June 12: 4 to 10 pm

Friday June 13: noon to 10 pm

Saturday june 14: 10 to 10 pm
