State To Add $5 Million Helicopter To Fleet

Posted: Updated:
(WLNS) - The Michigan State Police is adding a $5 Million helicopter to its air fleet.

And, according to 6 News Capitol Correspondent Tim Skubick, you can bet Governor Rick Snyder won't be riding in it soon.

No governor has ridden in a state-owned helicopter since John Engler turned choppers into political footballs during his successful campaign to unseat Governor James Blanchard.

In his column for our media partners at MLive, Skubick points out that Engler coined the term "Imperial Governor" to describe Blanchard for his use of helicopters to travel the state.
