Jackson Budget Moves Save Police/Fire Jobs

Posted: Updated:
(WLNS) - The hits to public safety in Jackson won't be as hard now that changes have been made to the city's budget.

According to our media partners at the Jackson Citizen Patriot, one firefighter and police officer will keep their jobs but other positions will still go.

When the city council approved their budget on May 27 they had a $600,000 deficit that would have led to those two layoffs.

However, city union officials agreed to health care concessions to save the money.

The council agreed to change the budget last night to reflect that.
