Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - Police in Jackson are investigating two armed robberies overnight and say one suspect might be responsible for both.

The first robbery was just before 11:00 p.m. at the PS Food Mart on South West Avenue. Police say a white male wearing a red hoodie, black hat, and blue jeans approached the counter, displayed a knife and demanded money from the register.

The suspect left the area on foot after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries.

The Jackson K-9 unit was called in to track did not locate the suspect, however, possible evidence was recovered.

About three hours later police were called to the Shell station on Wildwood Street for a report of a robbery. A suspect, matching the same description from the PS Food Mart robbery, entered the store, displayed a knife and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect fled the area on foot. There were no injuries in that robbery.

The investigation continues into both robberies.
