(WLNS) - A $250,000 grant to the city of Eaton Rapids is helping encourage students to walk today.
It's called the "Walk a Mile To School" event and it's part of Michigan's "Safe Routes to School" program.
The money will be used to provide 15,000 feet of new sidewalk in a neighborhood near the Eaton Rapids public schools complex.
The initiative is part of the city's larger goal to make the area a safer, and healthier one, for everyone.
