KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - A Knoxville resident won the Powerball drawing with an astounding jackpot of $259.9 million on Wednesday.
According to our sister station WKRN in Nashville, the person, whose identity has yet to be released, won after purchasing the ticket through the Tennessee Lottery.
The ticket-holder has 180 days from the day of the drawing to claim their prize.
Should the winner opt to take the lump-sum payment, the cash value of the $259.8 million is $153.5 million.
Information about the winner won’t be known until the prize money is claimed.
The prize is the largest in the history of the Tennessee Lottery.
Last January, a Bellevue mother and her son won a Mega Millions jackpot of $61 million.
