Fraud Alert: Fake Officer In Livingston County

Posted: Updated:
(WLNS) - Be on the lookout for a man claiming to be from the Livingston County Sheriff's Office warrants division.

According to investigators several people have been contacted by a man identifying himself as Major Paul Stevens and he has a warrant for their arrest for various reasons.

The imposter would then ask for money to cancel the warrant so they wouldn't have to worry about being arrested.

The Livingston County Sheriff's Office tells 6 News that the phone number the suspect is using is 517-260-3483.

They go on to say that the Livingston County Sheriff's Office does not have any affiliation with a Major Paul Stephens. Paul Stephens is not or has not been employed with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff's Office reminds people to never give money or personal information to anyone without confirming their identity.

If you have any information about this please contact the Livingston County Sheriff Department at 517-546-2440 or Crime Stoppers Michigan Tip Hotline at 1 800 773 2587.
