DETROIT (AP) - Surplus World War II-era plane engines, propellers and other items are being sold by the Detroit Public Schools.

The district is holding an online warehouse auction from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday as part of its efforts to raise money and reduce storage costs.

Items up for sale can be inspected from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The district's series of auctions began in October and have included surplus and obsolete kitchen equipment, outdated metal shop equipment, safes, car engines and pianos. More than $372,000 has been raised from about 25 online auctions.
