Summer campers not put off by cooler weather and look forward to Fall adventures.
(WLNS) - You may have recently seen a post being shared on social media claiming that it can be deadly to give your dog ice or ice water. But there may not be a lot of truth to the claim.
The post states that by giving your dog ice or ice water on a hot day it can cause it to die from bloating and spasms.
Our sister stations WSPA and WFLA went straight to vets to see if this rumor is true.
Dr. Heather Gleaton from Roper Mountain Animal Hospital says it couldn't be further from the truth.
Ice water can actually be good for your dogs after time outside in the hot weather, said Dr. Gleaton.
If your dog throws up after drinking ice water, it could be because they drank too much. By throwing up, the dog has fixed the internal issue.
Dr. Gleaton says the only scientifically proven thing that will make dogs bloat is extreme exercise right after a meal.
