Jackson Dog Rescuer Unlikely To Face Charges

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - Police said they have no records of any calls for assistance at Westwood Mall for Monday, June 16, when Alex Soper said he

rescued a puppy from a locked car by breaking a window.

According to our media partners at MLive, Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety Deputy Director Jon Johnston said his department, which has jurisdiction over the Westwood Mall area, did not receive a call for service that evening other than for shoplifting at Wal-Mart.

Soper said in an email Tuesday that he has been contacted by a woman who was also in the parking lot the evening of the incident and was told the dog, whose name is Elsa, was returned to her owner. Soper said he was told the woman who owns Elsa was upset about the window but found his actions to be justified given the situation.
