Drunk Driving Crackdown On Holiday Weekend

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - It's the first day of July which means we're only a few days away from Independence Day.

Many people are going to be traveling for the fourth holiday and you can be sure there will be extra police, troopers and sheriff's deputies out on the roads.

Law enforcement will be stepping up drunk driving patrols through mid-July.

The goal is to have no traffic deaths during the holiday period.

Last year officials arrested more than 110 people for drunk driving but there were still 19 deaths, just under half of them involved alcohol.
