POLL: Race For Governor Is Dead Heat

Posted: Updated:
(WLNS) - A new statewide poll shows the race between Governor Rick Snyder and challenger Mark Schauer is neck and neck.

According to our media partners at MLive "Public Policy Polling" asked more than 550 registered voters who they would pick as governor in the November election.

According to their results:

40 percent of voters would choose to re-elect Governor Snyder.

Another 40 percent would vote for challenger Mark Schauer.

That leaves a full 20 percent of people surveyed undecided.

Snyder has
led Schauer in most recent polls, including a Mitchell Research survey last month that pegged the governor's lead at five percentage points. PPP had the governor up by four points when it polled Michigan in both April and December.

The pollsters attributed Schauer's gain to television ads sponsored by the Democratic Governors Association and declining approval ratings for Snyder.

The poll has a margin error of about 4 percent.
