Two In Custody After Bomb Threat At Spartan Stadium

Posted: Updated:

EAST LANSING, MI (WLNS) - Two suspects are in custody after a bomb threat prompted Michigan State University police to evacuate Spartan Stadium and the surrounding area Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the two suspects should be arraigned by Thursday afternoon.

The call to start evacuating the stadium came shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday. Everyone in the stadium and the immediate area were ordered to move back several hundred yards.

Police routed traffic around the area and asked drivers to avoid the streets surrounding the stadium.

About 200 people were evacuated in less than 10 minutes, says Scott Westerman, MSU Alumni Association.

The stadium re-opened just after 5 p.m. Wednesday. Construction workers and people were let back into the area.

No bomb was found and no injuries have been reported.
