Two Suspects In Custody In Spartan Stadium Bomb Threat

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - Two people are in custody tonight after a bomb threat forces an evacuation at MSU's Spartan Stadium.

Shortly after getting the threat police figured out who they were looking for and tracked down the suspects for questioning.

Right now they're faceless and nameless to us but officials say they should be arraigned Thursday.

"We take every threat seriously."

So seriously that within minutes of getting a bomb threat targeting Spartan Stadium officials took control of the scene.

"Our response time was within a minute, two minutes at the most. About 3:16/3:17, we were there on the scene with our officers, several K9 officers to check the stadium," said Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor of the MSU police department.

And to evacuate everyone on or near the premises.

"The stadium personnel as well as the tower, individuals from the running track, central services garage, all those individuals had been evacuated," continued McGlothian-Taylor.

Spartan Stadium employee Ernscie Augustin said, "I was actually working at the parking booth, and we received a phone call and they said they were gonna come pick up...come pick us up."

Officials also blocked off roads and diverted traffic as a safety precaution.

Actions that drew praise from those who could have been in harm's way.

Augustin continued, "I just want to thank everyone. I mean, this is happening all over the country. When you're placed in that position, you don't know how you're gonna react, but, they did a pretty good job of evacuating us and making sure we were safe."

Officials say they did not find any explosives in or around the stadium.

Fortunately---no one was injured in this incident.

And fortunately there weren't too many people on campus when this happened.

As for the suspects: we'll keep you posted on when they're arraigned in court.

Officials say they should be arraigned as early as Thursday.
