Eaton Rapids Celebrates Independence Day

Posted: Updated:
EATON RAPIDS, MI (WLNS) - In towns big and small right here in mid-Michigan and all across America the nation turned out to celebrate the country's birthday.

Eaton Rapids is a little town that's well-known for a big celebration.

Thousands came out to show their patriotism and take part in the parade. It was a perfect day for Eaton Rapids residents to celebrate the fourth.

More than 10,000 people attended, traveling from cities from all over.

People took part in the parade by showing off cars, tractors, and there was even a marriage proposal. Vendors camped out on the sidewalks as well, to sell their handmade goods.

According to a veteran who takes part in the parade each year, he says it is something that people really look forward to.

"I think the town enjoys this. People come from other towns to enjoy the parade. It’s a good parade and then they have various events throughout the day, so people enjoy it a lot,” said Erik Napieralski, Administrator, Michigan Veterans Homeowners Assistance Program.

Even the weather stayed nice, making Eaton Rapids the place to be Friday afternoon.
