Donkeys, Darth Vader, Families Come Together For 4th Of July Parade

Posted: Updated:
LANSING, MI (WLNS) - The city of Lansing was covered in flags for the 4th of July parade Friday.

Earlier this year the city of Lansing had to cancel the downtown Memorial Day parade for lack of interest.

But there was no shortage of that Friday with flags, floats, and fans.

6 News Christa Lamendola checked out the annual 4th of July parade in the capital city.

“’Tis the season to be patriotic.”

There was no shortage of patriotism Friday. Donkeys, veterans and families all came out to the annual Independence Day parade. Even Darth Vader made an appearance.

“I like the cop cars and the airplanes and all the trucks and the loud stuff,” said Jaden Spangler, Lansing.

And while hundreds came out to participate in the festivities and even grab some candy, others came out to show their gratitude.

“We're very thankful that we live in this country. That's the whole thing, it's just a great country, best in the world,” said Bill Knights, Lansing.

The parade marched around the capitol building with many different groups for a little over an hour.

Even with the flags and the floats there seemed to be a crowd favorite this year.

Young ones enjoyed the large trucks because they honk upon children's request.
