Capital Area Restaurant Week Is On The Menu

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - Capital Area Restaurant Week kicks off today and local eateries are gearing up for the festivities.

6 News Alexandra Ilitch went to a couple of restaurants today to find out how they're preparing for the week-long event.

Grab your fork and knife as over 20 restaurants within the Lansing area are gearing up for the second annual Capital Area Restaurant Week as they staff up to prepare for the three course meal selection some restaurant owners have an idea of what they can expect.

Cindy Jubek of Clara's Lansing Station said, "Last year we sold 100 meals. We're hoping to double that this year.. Of course, anything helps."

"You know its our first time doing it and it sounds like an awesome opportunity to capture new customers and to possibly you know reward our loyal customers that we have," adds Christine White of McAlister's Deli.

How to decide what to serve up on the menu?

Restaurant owner, Cindy Jubeck says it's a no-brainer.

"We try to take something that we're proud of--our grilled chicken hawaiian has been on our menu since day one so its something that's a staple--it's been with us for a long time--people enjoy it."

"We're excited, we're anxious, we're staffing up so we're appropriately staffed so we can give it excellent customer service," added White.

Not only will you be paying to eat but each restaurant will be donating 10 percent of proceeds to the Greater Lansing Food Bank.

"Here at McAlisters for just 25 dollars you and a couple can get a three course meal of an appetizer, dinner, and dessert, now I tried the loaded potato-- its pretty good."

As if it's not already a rewarding experience to give back to help those in need one lucky person will walk away with a $25 gift certificate to each participating restaurant.
