Country Night Party At Common Ground

Posted: Updated:
(WLNS) - It's day 3 of the Common Ground Music Festival, and while other nights featured indie rock music tonight was the night to get down, country style.

There were a lot of country music fans out tonight and many dressed the part too.

Tonight featured several country artists like Shane Lee and David Nail but after talking to some fans there was a clear favorite tonight.

Cowboy hats and country music, not exactly what you'd expect in the big city.

One fan summed it up.  "Now we're in the city listening to country music. Kind of an oxymoron there.

It's been awesome. You kind of see everybody roaming around and listening to music and having a great time. "

Night three of the Common Ground Music Fesitval and its country night. With three stages and five thousand people there was plenty of music to go around.

Matt and Melissa Stebbins of Lansing are enjoying the entire experience. "We try to see the headliner on the main stage at some point but we like to make it around and check out everybody."

The marketing director of the music festival says overall the festival is drawing concert goers from out of state.

Jenna Meyer explains the regional impact. "A week or two ago we were looking at 17-18% out of state for the whole week so Tuesday night we had a really big draw out of state so that's kind of where those numbers are coming from but we are happy with the increase last year was about 5%."

Many artists of different genres have made their way to the stage but for country night there seems to be a crowd favorite.

"Justin Moore and David Nail concert," said one fan.  That was echoed by another music lover whose choice was, "Justin Moore"
