Jackson College Trustees Could Consider New Contract Today

Posted: Updated:
(WLNS) - This is a big day for the faculty at Jackson College. School officials say they're close to finalizing a new contract for union workers.

One entire year. That's how long faculty members have been working without a contract at Jackson College.

It's caused a spike in the cost of their medical benefits and a year of frustration for faculty union members but that could end today. When the board of trustees is expected to approve a new union contract during it's scheduled board of trustees meeting.

Tonight the board is expected to at least consider approval of the faculty union contracts. Jackson College faculty members haven't had a contract since August 31 of last year.

During negotiations of the contract the college's faculty and support staff union members actually passed a vote of "no confidence" in the leadership of Jackson College president Dan Phelan.

The board meeting is set to start at 6:30 this evening.
