Public Opinions Sought On Fracking In Michigan

Posted: Updated:
(WLNS) - You can voice your opinion about fracking in a pair of public meetings this week.

The State Department of Environmental Quality wants to discuss the rules of hydraulic fracturing. Fracking involves pumping sand, water and chemicals into the ground to release gas and oil.

Environmental groups say the drilling is a hazard to lakes and rivers. Those groups have urged the state to increase fracking regulations.

The first meeting is tonight in Gaylord and the other meeting is scheduled tomorrow in Lansing.
