Uber Rideshare Service Comes To Lansing, 3 Other MI Cities

Posted: Updated:
(WLNS) - Depending upon who you ask the drive share service Uber is a great service or it's the end of the taxicab business.

Today Uber begins service in Lansing, Flint, Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo.  Uber is an on-demand car service that connects riders with drivers in non-taxi vehicles.  There are different levels of rides on Uber: from a basic car all the way to a luxury ride. Fares are set and paid with credit cards.  No cash is used.

Traditional taxi cab companies are critical of the service, claiming the rideshare program has potential to be unregulated and to exploit drivers. There have been attempts to block or impose regulations on ridesharing companies like Uber in Seattle, Miami, Portland, Virginia,  Maryland, New York City.
