(WLNS) - In an effort to cut down on crime Michigan State University has just launched a new hot-line and website and they're hoping students attending this fall, will feel safer on campus.
It allows people to report crimes anonymously, at the click of a button or the ring of a cellphone anyone at the school can report any wrongdoing on the campus.
Here's the new website misconduct.msu.com. And it breaks down the areas in which someone can report.
Some of the areas include athletics, conflict of interest, discrimination and harrassment, employment, retaliation and, of course, safety to name a few.
And the misconduct hotline number works similarly. That number can be found on the website. It's staffed 24 hours and when students call they'll speak directly to a represenative about the issue or a previously filed report. All calls are confidential and visits to the website are not tracked.
This hotline and internet service is actually an expansion of a fiscal misconduct hotline that the University began back in 2005.
