Bay City Continues Search For Big Water Main Break

Posted: Updated:

BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - Bay City officials are continuing their search for the source of a water main break that's been draining 10 million gallons of water a day.

Bob Dion, the city's water distribution supervisor, told local media that officials would regroup Monday and resume searching for the break that's threatening to empty reserves for the city of 35,000 and most of the surrounding county.

Bay City declared a water emergency. It says the city shouldn't run out of water if people are conservative about water use.

Officials say crews discovered Saturday there was a major water main break. Public works Director Dave Harran has said the city's water reserves could be empty Monday unless the location of the leak is found and crews can halt it.
