NASCAR Fans Rev Up For Race Weekend

Posted: Updated:
BROOKLYN, MI (WLNS) - The village of Brooklyn is gearing up for a race filled weekend and even though the races are still a few days away, fans are already filing in to camp out.

That's how long James Brown and his wife traveled two days from Ottawa to Brooklyn, Michigan to be here for their first race day because that's just the kind of NASCAR fans they are.

"Everybody's like friendly and helpful and they're just there it's almost like coming into a family group,” said Elaine Brown, camping with husband.

A family group that brings crowds year after year and that's something MIS doesn't take lightly.

"We've got people that are choosing to spend their time and money with us and none of us take that lightly, none of us take that for granted and we want to make sure they have a great time while they're here,” said Roger Curtis, president, Michigan International Speedway.

In their eyes racing is about more than just fast cars.

"You can smell it, you can feel it, you can almost taste it, it's sensory overload,” said Curtis.

That sensory overload and the family feel is what keep fans coming back.

“You could come here with no friends and leave with 100,” said Rick Arcaro, NASCAR fan.
