Teen Shot In Head

Posted: Updated:
LANSING, MI (WLNS) - A Saturday morning shooting left a Lansing teen fighting for his life.

Police say a 17-year-old was shot in the head around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

It happened inside the Silver Stone Townhome complex, located on the 5800 block of south Martin Luther King.

Officials believe the teen was shot through a window by a suspect standing outside. The teen was taken to a hospital, where police say he was listed in critical condition.

6 News spoke to several people who heard the gun shot, one woman who lives two doors down.
She said the gunshot woke her up and after she heard it, her first reaction was to run outside to see what happened.

Police say four other people were in the townhome at the time, but no one else was hurt. Officials believe only one shot was fired and that shot hit the 17-year-old.

"(I) woke up with the gunshot. I heard some lady screaming and then that's when I tried to come outside and that's when the cop said get back in," said neighbor Gail Hunter.

Police have not made any arrests so far, but do say they do not believe this was a random act.

Officials are looking for a suspect described as a thin black man around 5'10". He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, light blue jeans and a black shirt covering his face.

If you have any information about this shooting please call Detective Mark Lewandowsky with the Lansing Police Department at 517-483-4600.
