POLL: Peters Has 6 Point Over Land In Senate Race

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - The long-playing political battle for US Senate between Democrat Gary Peters and Republican Terri Lynn Land is heating up.

Now, in a mid-Michigan exclusive EPIC-MRA poll, Peters has a six percentage point lead over Land.   That's down 3 percentage points from the last survey. Researchers asked which candidate potential voters would support if the election were held today.

John Cavanaugh with EPIC-MRA says that's due to Terri Lynn Land gaining ground, not Peters losing ground.  "In terms of that race, that has tightened from our last survey, Peters did have a nine point lead over Land."

In the race for Attorney General pollsters found incumbent Republican Bill Schuette holds a six percentage point lead over Democrat Mark Totten.

"Certainly if I were in the schuette campaign, I would like to see a higher percentage," says Cavanaugh.

While that may be close statistically, the survey found that nearly 80 percent of the people polled still don't know who Mark Totten is.

But Cavanaugh says there is still plenty of time for all the candidates to get out their messages. "With a great deal of undecided out there to win, I don't see any campaign sitting on their hands."

Which means you can expect more campaign ads in the weeks leading up to the November election.
