Mid Michigan saw a historic snow take shape on October 12th, 2006. A unseasonably cold airmass moved in on the 11th and set the stage for some significant lake effect snow. This was the most snow so early in the season on record for the Lansing area with 1.5". The old record was .5" set back in 1909. Some places across Mid Michigan like Charlotte reported up to 4" during the height of the snow.
