Chivon Kloepfer anchors the 5:30 p.m. weekday newscast and co-anchors the 6 & 11 p.m. weekday newscasts for WLNS TV-6. She also anchors the station’s weekly political newscast, The Capital Rundown.
Chivon came to the station in December of 2011 as a part-time reporter and has experience in virtually every newsroom position including reporter, photographer, producer, digital anchor, digital producer and television anchor. She also served as a managing editor while anchoring 6 News This Morning & 6 News at Noon.
Chivon is originally from Guelph, Ontario Canada, and moved to Michigan on a scholarship to play on the varsity softball team at Central Michigan University. After graduating from CMU (Fire Up Chips!), she started as an intern at 9&10 News in Cadillac, where she worked her way up to a reporter/producer position for its award-winning morning show.
During her time at WLNS, Chivon has won numerous awards from the Associated Press and the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. She has been nominated for two local Emmy awards and has also won three regional Edward R. Murrow awards for her reporting on mental health, organ donation, and the football rivalry between Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. The Murrow Awards are recognized as among the most prestigious in broadcast journalism. Chivon has also been recognized by Gift of Life Michigan with the 2020 Donation Storyteller Award.
Chivon also helped launch, co-produce and anchor the first ever digital newscast at WLNS TV-6 that ran Monday through Friday at 12:30 PM, and during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, she helped launch and currently anchors “Feel Good Friday” on WLNS, which brings positive, feel-good stories to viewers in mid-Michigan every week during 6 News at 5:30.
When Chivon is not at work, she is home with her three children and her husband, Ben. As a family, they enjoy getting outdoors, riding bicycles, taking their boat out on the water, camping, and exploring the beauty that Michigan has to offer.
