Duncan Phenix

Duncan Phenix is the Digital Content Manager for wlns.com. He moved back to mid-Michigan in June 2023 after a 27-year absence where he worked at several television stations across the country.

He was most recently a Digital Reporter for 8NewsNow.com and called Las Vegas home since early 2012. Phenix also produced and wrote for MysteryWire.com, also based in Las Vegas at KLAS-TV.

After attending Michigan State University he began his television career beginning in Topeka, KS. This was followed by working in newsrooms in Traverse City, Memphis, Missouri, Seattle, and Las Vegas where he produced and managed daily newscasts.

In 2017 he left television to hit the road, paved and dirt, giving tourists the experience of a lifetime as an adventure tour guide. He showed tourists the wilder side of the desert southwest at the Grand Canyon, Valley of Fire, Death Valley, Red Rock Canyon, Las Vegas, and other hidden gems in between.

Phenix is also considered a world traveler. He was born in Scotland and lived there for six years. Since moving to the United States on New Year’s Day in 1980 he has visited many other countries including China. Phenix and his wife have also taught conversational English in Spain and Italy.

Phenix and his wife have two dogs, both adopted from a Las Vegas shelter. When not working he enjoys exploring the area that’s off the beaten path. In Nevada, his go-to getaway spots were ghost towns and other desolate areas (there are a lot of them in Nevada) to photograph nature and the dark night sky.
