Heywood — his preferred name — is an award-winning journalist with more than three decades of experience in online, print, television and radio platforms.
His work has been honored by the Association of Alternative News Media, the Michigan Press Association and others.
He specializes in deep-dive investigative journalism. highlights of his reporting include reporting on white nationalist groups and extremism in general, the Marshall oil spill and in-depth reporting on sexual harassment and sexual assault allegations at MSU and greater Lansing.
When not working, Heywood is an avid vintage Star Wars collector. He is also an award-winning actor and director with professional experience and community theater.
He has also served as an elected Lansing Community College Trustee and on the Ingham Community Health Centers Board of Directors. He served as chair of the board for three years.
He lives in Lansing with his three dogs, Gaveston, Cordelia and Lancelot Gobbo.
