Microscopic organisms are headed to the International Space Station

HOUSTON, Texas (CBS) – According to officials with NASA, hundreds of microscopic organisms are headed to the International Space Station aboard a SpaceX rocket.

The organisms include newly-hatched bobtail squids and water bears.

Officials say the creatures will be part of scientific experiments which include studying how organisms handle space and the effects of micro-gravity.
