Maya Fletcher is a senior at Leslie High School who loves art.

Fletcher said being interested in art, like painting, runs in her family from her grandfather to her sister.

“I think Maya is an extraordinary student,” Leslie High School art teacher Patricia Davis said. “From the second I saw her get on the pottery wheel, I knew that her passion was ignited. I haven’t seen that happen from a lot of kids before in the world of ceramics, so she’s been very impressive from the start.”

Fletcher said she likes making mugs because she is a big coffee drinker. “I plan on using pottery in the future,” Fletcher added.
