LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– Every Friday 6 News dedicates its entire 5:30 newscast to feel good, and positive news stories.

The idea “Feel Good Friday” was launched by 6 News anchor Chivon Kloepfer on April 3, 2020, less than a month after the first cases of COVID-19 were reported in Michigan.

“I needed to hear more good news,” said Kloepfer. “All we were hearing about nonstop was COVID-19, and it was super depressing. Obviously, I’m always looking for good news for my “Tell Me Something Good” segment, and I realized there was a ton of other stories I couldn’t get to.”

6 News celebrated its year anniversary of “Feel Good Friday” in 2021.

The original “Feel Good Friday” newscast was recognized for “Best Newscast” by the Associated Press.
