Hundreds of future chefs will face off in Lansing today showing both their management skills and culinary chops.
The annual Michigan ProStart Competition features 62 teams of students fro m23 career and technical centers across the state.
There are 6 rounds to the competition including culinary, management, menu design, nutrition, servsafe, the knowledge bowl, and table-top design.
The competition began yesterday with a table-top competition and will continue this morning with a culinary competition.
Teams will create a unique three-course meal consisting of a starter, entree and dessert that demonstrates their culinary knowledge, skills, and creative ability.
The winners will move on to the National Competition where they could win more than $500,000 in scholarships to help the students pursue careers in the foodservice industry.
