LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – “I would definitely come back to this,” said 11 year old Gab Hammes. From basketball, to a spinning wheel…the YMCA was jam packed with kids for its 25th annual nationwide “Healthy Kids day.”District Executive Director, Todd Fisher says he’s very excited for all the activities they have to offer.“We have healthy snacks, summer camp promotion, Mystic Lake, which is our resident camp sign up and promotion,” Fisher stated.Todd mentioned that he plans on seeing hundreds of kids at this YMCA alone.“It just shows the power of the YMCA across the country,” said Fisher.“Healthy Kids Day” makes it a point to inspire kids to become more active in their minds and bodies. And they have one goal…“Educate parents and kids on healthy activities, healthy eating and physical activity,” Fisher stated. And this national day seemed to be quite the hit, especially with 11 year old Gab.“On a scale of 1 to 10, I choose 10!” said Hammes. And to Todd, it’s seeing the bright, smiling faces on these kids’ faces that make his day so rewarding.“You can see kids everywhere having fun, being physical and just having a great time at the YMCA,” Fisher mentioned.
